Another renowned gambling venture that just applied for a Nevada online poker license is Wynn Resorts. This venture is the newest applicant after several previous applicants such as IGT and William Hill have already passed the first phase of the process.

Today the renowned US land-casino chain Wynn Resorts reported that it had just applied for a new online gambling license in Nevada. Wynn Resorts will still have to be evaluated by a special Commission first after which the Nevadan Gaming Control Commission will decide if it will award a license or not.

Wynn Resorts is a major US gambling chain run by main shareholder Steve Wynn. Steve Wynn is known as a long time online poker legalization proponent. Wynn came into the spotlight before April 2011 when he intended to form a partnership with PokerStars regarding the launch of a genuine US online poker brand.

The idea of the deal and possible partnership was eventually abandoned after April 15th 2011 when the United States Department of Justice indicted PokerStars of providing illegal online gambling services to players from the United States.

After Black Friday, Wynn became a vehement critic of the DoJ's actions and several times called for the federal legislation of online poker. Now, it seems that Steve Wynn and his casino chain have not given up and intend to acquire a new Nevadan online poker license which they hope to use in order to expand into the entire US market.

Just recently the Nevadan Gaming Control Commission has approved the licensing applications of other major online gambling companies. Last week William Hill and renowned international gambling company IGT had their applications validated meaning that it's very likely that they will be awarded with a license on June 21st.

It's extremely likely that the application on Wynn Resorts will be approved as well given the fact that the venture is a genuine American company and it never offered any online gambling services of any kind. A possible hindrance might be the venture's intended collaboration with PokerStars, but considering that no actual collaboration took place this probably won't be of significance.

Last year Nevada adopted a new legislation that would allow online and land based gambling companies to provide intrastate online poker services in case the Federal Government also decides to legalize online poker and regulate the US online gambling market.
